Connecting Shopify is the first step in Layer Insights. It gives the platform access to your orders, products, customers, and fulfillment data — the ground truth against which all ad platform conversion data is compared. Without Shopify connected, attribution cannot be calculated.

How to connect

Install the Layer Insights Shopify app
In your Layer Insights dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations → Shopify and click Install. You will be redirected to the Shopify app install flow.

Approve the permissions
Shopify will show you the permissions Layer Insights is requesting — read access to orders, products, customers, and fulfillment data. Click Install app.

Select your store
If you have multiple Shopify stores, select the one you want to connect. You can connect additional stores later from Settings.

Your data starts syncing
Layer Insights imports the last 90 days of order history in the background. Live data starts flowing immediately via webhooks.
Frequently asked questions
Does Layer Insights slow down my Shopify store?
No. The Layer Insights pixel loads asynchronously and has no impact on store speed or Core Web Vitals.
What permissions does Layer Insights request?
Read-only access to orders, products, customers, and fulfillment data. Layer Insights never writes to your Shopify store or modifies orders.
Can I connect multiple Shopify stores?
Yes. You can connect multiple stores from Settings → Integrations. Each store counts toward your plan's store limit.
How far back does the historical import go?
Layer Insights imports the last 90 days of order history on first connection.
